Do you need a pap test? That depends on your age and pap history. A pap test is a test that checks the cells of the cervix which is the opening of the uterus. This test screens for changes in the cervical cells that could lead to cervical cancer. If a woman has no history of abnormal pap tests, a pap is recommended every 3 years for women age 21-29. For women age 30-65 a pap and HPV ‘co-test’ is recommended every five years. Learn more about pap tests.
