The Student Disability Access Center (SDAC) strives to promote a culture of access and inclusion for students with disabilities across all academic programs and University services.

To ensure full participation in campus life for every student, SDAC provides academic accommodations, support services, and advocacy throughout the UVA community in line with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended. Every year, many individuals with disabilities are served through our office, including those with learning disabilities, AD/HD, psychological conditions, chronic health conditions, Autism Spectrum Disorder, blind or low vision, Deaf or hard of hearing, and temporary injuries. SDAC also helps educate the UVA community through disability-related trainings.

Mission and Vision

The mission of the Student Disability Access Center is to support the University’s commitment to accessible education. For UVA’s students with disabilities, we encourage self-determination and independence via accommodations, education, consultation, and advocacy with the goal of building an equitable academic experience.

Our vision is for individuals with disabilities to have full access to the physical, educational, social, cultural and political milieu of the University of Virginia. The staff of the Student Disability Access Center (SDAC) embrace the values of The University (accountability, diversity, integrity, respect, social responsibility) and the values of the Student Affairs Office (knowledge, humanity, responsibility, integrity, community), particularly as they have bearing on accessibility, equal opportunity, collaboration and learning. SDAC strives to promote accessibility for all individuals with disabilities including faculty, staff, family, friends, guests of the University, and members of the community.
