Bio

David Luedeka, PT, DPT, MS, CSCS, is an accomplished Physical Therapist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with 30 years of clinical expertise.

For nearly two decades, Dr. Luedeka served as the proprietor and operator of a Physical Therapy/Medical Fitness Specialist practice in Sarasota, Florida. He also donates his time as the Director of the Fried Center for the Advancement of Potential (FCAP), a non-profit organization committed to serving individuals with and without intellectual disabilities. Driven by a passion for education, Dr. Luedeka runs a learning clinic where he mentors cohorts of student medical fitness trainers, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience as they pursue their goals of becoming healthcare professionals.

Dr. Luedeka’s clinical success can be attributed to his dedication to understanding the underlying reasons behind his treatment approaches. As a dynamic problem-solver, he consistently achieves remarkable results, even in historically challenging cases. Drawing from his extensive research background and innovative mindset, Dr. Luedeka founded CKC Systems LLC and developed the CKC Fitness Systems—an all-in-one exercise trainer that fosters functional, closed chain movement.

A prominent focus of Dr. Luedeka’s research lies in Evolutionary Mismatch Theory, which involves a comparative analysis of human anatomy and structure across different time periods. By exploring the interactions between prior adaptations and our modern environment, he aims to identify sources of dysfunction and disease. Driven by this understanding, he coined the Rotator Cuff Evolutionary Mismatch Theory—a groundbreaking hypothesis that has demonstrated remarkable efficacy in the treatment of severe rotator cuff dysfunction and is currently undergoing clinical testing.

Additionally, Dr. Luedeka teaches a course on Evolutionary Mismatches and Functional Human Motion here at the University of Virginia which serves as part of the training process for his student interns.
