Bio

Amelia obtained her B.A. in Psychology from Warren Wilson College, and her M.A., and Ed.S. in Clinical Mental Health from James Madison University.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor.  

Amelia’s clinical and research Interests include:  Developmental and acute trauma and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD);   ADHD; Disordered Eating/Eating Disorders; Body Positivity/Health at Every Size (HAES);   Multicultural Counseling and Diversity Issues; Mind-Body Interventions;  Mindfulness and Meditation; Substance Use and Addiction; Stress Management and Coping Skills;  Adjustment Issues (Transition to College, Graduate School, Cultural Adjustment, etc.);  Career Planning/Transitions;  Anxiety Disorders (Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, etc.); Community Outreach and Prevention;  Depression and Mood Disorders; Gender and Sexuality; Relationships (intimate partner, friends/roommates, professional); Psychoeducation; Self-Esteem and Self-Compassion
